Last days in Boise!

Hello Guys!

Today was a very exciting day! In the morning we arrived in Riverstone about 8 o`clock and some students presented us some pictures of their hiking trips with the school. Ben, the outdoor education director, highlighted the importance that Riverstone gives to these trips, as a way to build character and team work. They explained us that usually they go hiking for about 5 days, when they have to do their own food and organize the tents to sleep (no hotels!). Finally after the presentaion we set off our journey to the foothills close to Boise. I think the brazilian bioma more similar to them is the `Cerrado`, because Boise is a quite dry place (Yesterday rained, which is a memorable event here!). There they first taught us how to purify our water with a pumper, and after we had to make our own lunch with a small stove. The menu was mashed potatoes (it is a powder that you mix with water) and smoked sausages. It was really delicious because we were starving (ok, just a bit hungry!). After eating our challenge started: with a GPS, a compass, two maps and some luck we had to find a couple of hidden boxes in the area. We didn`t do so well at the Geocaching (the funny game of finding and hiding that is really common here) and went to the Foothills Science Center. There we did like a `volunteer work` helping them to uproot some weeds.

It was kind of tiring but a very special day!
Here in the US we all hope you are fine in Rio and we ask you please to comment if possible.

Hugs!!
Geraldo
